WebLinc Staffs and Operates ‘Our Closet’ Pop-Up Shop to help those in need

August 20th, 2018 – WebLinc employees participated in the “Our Closet,” pop-up shop powered by Jewish Family and Children’s Service. JFCS partnered with Congregation Rodeph Shalom to distribute free clothing and shoes for adults and children in need. The event was created with the goal of providing the basic need of clothing to vulnerable individuals and their families throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.

“I love that WebLinc takes the initiative to coordinate and offer volunteer opportunities to employees. I believe that service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth, so I thoroughly enjoy taking the time to give back to my community. Participating with Our Closet was a wonderful way to plant seeds of happiness through giving,” said Ashley Kennedy, Digital Designer at WebLinc.

WebLinc volunteers assisted shoppers to make clothing selections. Stacy Wyn Sarno, Ashley Kennedy, Alex Deck, Izzi Tognini, Mya Gupta, and Lauren Sikora staffed and set up the shop.

“There's nothing better than the feeling of giving back to your community in a way that is both personal and impactful. This event proved to do both and then some. Our team of volunteers was able to connect with such wonderful members of the community. I am so thankful to the organizers of this program, those who donated clothing, and WebLinc for providing me the opportunity to support my community. I can't wait to assist in the next pop-up shop,” said Alex Deck, Director of Marketing Programs at WebLinc.

“It was so heartwarming to give people the opportunity to shop with dignity – to see people come and feel empowered to make a choice, show their personal sense of style, and walk away with clothing that came from a true shopping experience,” said Stacy Wyn Sarno Director of Community Engagement & Refugee Hiring Initiatives at WebLinc.

WebLinc employees plan to keep giving back to the Philadelphia community by staffing the upcoming Our Closet, Coat Day 2018. The event will take place Sunday October 21st, at the Friends Select School in Center City. Employees hope to distribute more than 1000 winter coats to those in need.
