- Fire suppression systems — An O2 suppression system, which vacuums all the oxygen out of the room, is the first step. There is also a passive alert system for sprinklers and extinguishers. All of these systems, however, must be triggered by something; and that something is a parts per million smoke detection system that could catch a match’s smoke in the room.
- Raised floors — These create space for cable bundles, as well as air ventilation, helping the servers maintain a steady temperature and reducing the cost of air conditioning.
