The Place To Be for Brides-To-Be

The start of something new is always an exhilarating ride, even when it’s with old friends. Preparations are made, plans are set and teams are assembled to create and define a new part of your life or business. So when WebLinc began work on BHLDN, a bridal site with the grace and elegance that Anthropologie stylists have honed over the years, combined with the leading-edge tech savvy WebLinc is known for, it was like that perfect couple tying the knot – a lot of hard work and a lot of fun.

BHLDN is the latest brand in the Urban Outfitters family. Urban Outfitters is no stranger to WebLinc – we’ve been working with them since 1998 and have launched several Urban sites including Free People, Free People Wholesale, and Leifsdottir. But even with so much experience and history, creating the perfect big day for every fashion-forward female was a Herculean effort from all parties involved. All the hard work paid off though: the Valentines Day launch exceeded expectations with a site as beautiful as the products it sells.

As with any labor of love, the project started out with a lengthy to-do list. But over time, as each item was crossed off, the site began to take shape. Multiple types of manageable product browse pages create the bulk of the site and enable many ways to shop. Full-length sliding images let the gorgeous wedding gowns speak for themselves. High-resolution zooms, especially important for smaller items such as shoes and jewelry, let shoppers see even the smallest artisan details. Several different swatches show the stitching details of dresses as well as different angles. Product detail pages offer upsells of all the accouterments to match the dress to the shoes to the jewelry to the hair adornments. A short video showing the flow and feel of the gown is available on each gown page, letting shoppers really see how it will move – extremely important when choosing the most important dress you’ll ever wear.

When Valentine’s Day 2011 came, WebLinc and BHLDN had an early morning call to tie-up loose ends and discuss post-launch work. Before the call was over, it was as if the proverbial bouquet was tossed into the crowd. All day long blogs, Twitter and Facebook were buzzing with news of the launch. Reviews were unanimously positive as brides-to-be, bridesmaids, brides-that-want-to-be and even brides-that-already-were sang the praises of the new site.

The start of something new is always an exhilarating ride – and when everything goes right it makes every second of the work that leads up to it worthwhile. BHLDN’s big day was a smashing success as the WebLinc Direct system delivered a top-notch experience for users throughout a huge traffic surge. Although it may be something more akin to renewing the vows between the WebLinc and Urban families, this newest success is the product of a great brand working with a great system to produce the best results for customers.
